08 February: Formula 1 Testing - Jerez - Day 2 - Fiorano Day 3

Testing continued at Jerez today with 7 teams present and 13 drivers setting lap times.

Fernando Alonso continued his strong pre-season form setting the fastest time of the day ahead of Jenson Button and Juan Pablo Montoya..

Alonso's time was a 1:16.956.
Nick Heidfeld in the BMW Sauber covered the most number of laps with 116.

Alonso's time bettered the fastest time set yesterday by over a second.

For reference, the best time in 2005 was a 1:15.561 by Pedro de la Rosa in the McLaren MP4/20.

Despite the fastest time from Alonso, the Renault team encountered their first serious problem when test driver Heikki Kovalainen had a rear wing problem forcing the team to halt testing on his car.

Rubens Barrichello had a problem on his car limiting his running in the morning.

The pace of the McLaren improved today as Juan Pablo Montoya ran the latest evolution of the Mercedes V8 engine.

Weather conditions were sunny all day with air temperature reaching 20 degrees and track temperatures reaching 27 degrees.

Testing continue tomorrow at Jerez with Toro Rosso joining the test.

Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4

At Fiorano, Michael Schumacher concluded a 3 day test. Michael completed a total of 76 laps with a best time of 57.647 which is a fraction faster than the fastest time set yesterday.

Weather conditions were partly cloudy but cold with air temperature reaching 5 degrees while track temperature reached 8 degrees.

Ferrari move to the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain for a test commencing on the 13th of February.
