07 February: Formula 1 Testing - Jerez - Day 1 - Fiorano Day 2
Testing commenced at Jerez today with 4 teams present and 8 drivers setting lap times.
Alex Wurz in the Williams FW28 set the fastest time of the day ahead of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.
Wurz's time was a 1:18.144. Rubens Barrichello
covered the most number of laps with 112.
The time set by Alex Wurz is the fastest time for a 2006 V8 Specification car so far.
It was the first time the new MF1 Racing car tests on a track with other teams. Christian Albers was at the wheel setting the 7th fastest time.
No major problems or incidents were reported.
Weather conditions were sunny and clear all day with air temperature reaching 15 degrees.
Testing continue tomorrow at Jerez with Renault, McLaren and Sauber joining the test.
At Fiorano, Michael Schumacher took over testing from Felipe Massa. Michael completed a total of 121 laps with a best time of 57.652 which is the fastest time set at Fiorano so far in a 2006 V8 specification car.
Weather conditions were sunny but cold with air temperature reaching 5 degrees while track temperature reached 9 degrees.
