A busy day at Barcelona with 8 teams present and 13 drivers setting lap times.
Felipe Massa driving the F2004 V8 set the fastest time of the day ahead of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button.
Massa's time was a 1:15.664 while Alonso's time was a 1:16.200 which is the fastest time by a 2006 spec car so far. Jarno Trulli in the Toyota covered the most number of laps with 109.
Honda unveiled their new car, the RA106 (story) in the morning with two cars ready for Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button.
Button completed 72 laps and set the 3rd fastest time of the day while Barrichello covered 52 laps and set the fifth fastest time. An
encouraging result for the team given that this is the car's first day of testing.
Juan Pablo Montoya continued testing in the new McLaren MP4-21. He covered 80 laps and set the 9th fastest time of the day.
There were no major incidents reported.
Weather conditions were again cold but sunny with air temperature reaching 12 degrees and track temperature reaching 13 degrees.
Testing continues tomorrow with the new Ferrari 248 F1 joining the test.
