Day 3 of testing saw no laps completed owing to light rain and snow in Barcelona.
The final day of testing in Barcelona has been called off, following rain and snowfall at the Spanish circuit. As a result, the Renault F1 Team cars did not complete a single lap this morning. This week, the team completed 355 laps during two days of running at the Circuit de Catalunya, a
total of 1644 km.
Fernando Alonso: "We wanted to continue more running today, but the weather made it impossible – it was too cold to run safely. Even so, we have had a very good week: the reliability of the car was very strong, and I think the pace was there. We focused on tyre
development and long runs, as we get to know the car. The feeling I have is promising, and I am looking forward to getting back behind the wheel next week in Valencia."
Giancarlo Fisichella: "I think this has been a very good week for us. I had a couple of problems yesterday, but nothing unusual for winter testing. Overall, I am very happy after these first weeks of testing with the car. At the wheel, it feels quick and stable, and we made some
promising steps forward with Michelin this week on the tyre development. I think we are in good shape at the moment, although it is still too early to have an accurate feeling for the competition."
The team is now preparing to travel to Valencia, where work resumes on 1
February, with Fernando Alonso and Heikki Kovalainen. Before that, the team’s official launch will take place in Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum on Tuesday, 31 January.
