09 December: Jerez Test Day 3

Day 3 of 3
Jerez Circuit, Spain, 4.428km
Weather:
Dry and sunny, air temperature: 19°C

Sam Michael, Technical Director, WilliamsF1: “Today, Nico and Mark concluded the team’s test in Jerez, with Nico recording the fastest V8 time on Friday. We’ve again made good progress with all the mechanical components and systems checks on the interim FW27C, while Bridgestone have also moved forward since last week's test in Barcelona. On Sunday, we will be running a wet tyre test before returning to a normal programme on Wednesday.”

Simon Corbyn, Head of F1 Race Engineering, Cosworth: “These initial track tests with the interim FW27C chassis are invaluable to Cosworth in terms of identifying any engine, chassis integration and operational problems. As a result of this week’s track running, we’ve added some jobs to our lists and we’re now working through them. We have not yet identified any fundamental engine problems and we’re making good progress with the new CA2006 V8 in partnership with WilliamsF1.”

Kaz Hamamura, Test Operations Manager, Bridgestone Motorsport: “This week’s test in Jerez has been the WilliamsF1 Team’s first real opportunity to conduct a Bridgestone Potenza tyre test programme. Running alongside our three other teams, they have been involved in evaluating a number of different Bridgestone tyre constructions and compounds. While the test is by no means finished, and the teams running at Jerez have experienced several red flag disruptions, we are pleased with the team’s progress and the input from the drivers. This test is, effectively, two weeks long and once we have cross referenced all the data we will be looking to establish a strong development direction for the next stage of the test programme after the Christmas break.”
