13 May: Paul Ricard Test - Day 3 Jenson and Takuma were in action today as the team got back on track for our second day of testing at Paul Ricard. The circuit layout was changed to a Montreal configuration featuring long straights and high-speed, heavy braking corners. Weather conditions are again warm and sunny. In chassis 007-01, Jenson spent the morning repeating an evaluation of the new aerodynamic parts which Anthony ran through on Wednesday. He covered a total of 49 laps in a frustrating session as gearbox changes, together with numerous circuit red lights, prevented him from completing his planned programme. Takuma’s morning session was spent running through tyre evaluations for the European and Canadian races in chassis 007-03, completing 48 laps this morning. The morning session was brought to a close just before lunch when Alex Wurz had a high-speed crash in turn one. Alex was unhurt but the start of the afternoon session was delayed by an hour. The circuit was changed back to a shorter configuration as the safety barriers could not be repaired. Jenson continued his aerodynamic evaluation in the afternoon session, alongside some brake work. He completed 64 laps on the short circuit bringing his final lap tally for the day to a total of 113 laps. Takuma’s afternoon saw a continuation of his tyre evaluation for the Nurburgring and Montreal tyres over longer runs. He completed a total of 131 laps and set the fastest time of the day - a 01.00.744.
