27 April: Silverstone Test - Day 2 Rosberg joins Webber at Silverstone Nico Rosberg, son of 1982 World Champion Keke Rosberg, made his official debut as a BMW Williams F1 Team test driver at Silverstone today, as the Anglo-German partnership continued its preparations for the forthcoming Spanish Grand Prix. Once again, rain affected the programme in the morning, however by early afternoon the track had begun to dry as temperatures reached 18°C. Nico joined BMW WilliamsF1 Team race driver, Mark Webber, the Australian focussing on set-ups and tyre testing for Barcelona, while the young German familiarized himself with the Williams BMW FW27 in addition to evaluating set-ups and carrying out a number of simulated pit-stops. Having had the track to itself on Tuesday, today the BMW WilliamsF1 Team was joined by Jordan-Toyota. Mark completed 101 laps, posting a best time of 1:20.121 minutes, while Nico completed 57 laps on his way to setting a best time of 1:21.843. Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): "On the second day at Silverstone circuit, Mark Webber completed just over one hundred laps while carrying out a range of tyre tests in preparation for the Spanish GP next weekend. Meanwhile Nico Rosberg, the team’s new second test driver, made a solid debut today, registering nearly 300 kilometers. As he hasn't driven the FW27 before, Nico spent the session acclimatising himself and carrying out systems checks.“ Pos Driver Team Time Latest Formula 1 News from Williams BMW: Williams confirm Wurz and Rosberg for 2007 (02/08/2006) More news from BMW Williams F1
