Although slightly cloudy, conditions were generally good today, with
temperatures reaching 22°C, and though there was a light wind there was no sign of the dreaded Mistral. Nick Heidfeld was joined by
Antonio Pizzonia as the BMW WilliamsF1 Team continued its preparations for the start of the European season, which kicks off at
Imola in just over a week.
Nick spent the morning working on set-ups before switching to tyre testing for Imola in the
afternoon. Antonio spent the day concentrating on aerodynamic and mechanical set-up. The Brazilian completed 60 laps, setting a
personal best time of 1:04.442 minutes, while Nick completed 68 laps on his way to posting a personal best of 1:06.086. Both drivers
continue here tomorrow.
Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): "A straightforward day during which we
completed our planned programme, focusing mainly on tyre and set-up work."
