Autodromo del Mugello, 5.245 km - short course 2.760 km 12 April: First day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, working at its two home circuits, Fiorano and Mugello. At Fiorano, the day was affected by rain which fell intermittently at the track. At the wheel of an F2005, Rubens Barrichello worked on fine tuning set-up on the wet track. He covered a total of 39 laps (three on the short version of the track,) the quickest in a time of 1’01”580. No rain, but a wet track in the morning at Mugello, where Michael Schumacher was driving an F2005 and Luca Badoer an F2004 M. The world champion’s programme centred on aerodynamic and set-up work, while the Scuderia’s official test driver concentrated on Bridgestone tyre development. Once the track dried out, the two drivers were able to run continuously. By the end of the day, Michael had done 125 laps (20 on the short version of the track, best time 1’21”694) and Luca did 103 (9 short, 1’22”938.) The Scuderia continues testing tomorrow: Barrichello remains at Fiorano, while Schumacher and Badoer stay in Mugello.
