7 April: Barcelona Test Day 2 Three drivers on duty for BMW WilliamsF1 Team Conditions were ideal, with little wind and temperatures reaching 20°C. Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld were scheduled to drive, however the Australian stepped down at midday as a result of a pain in his ribs. This was purely a preliminary measure, and in order to allow the team to complete its schedule, Antonio Pizzonia joined Nick in the afternoon. In the morning, Mark worked on set-ups concentrating on aerodynamics and in particular different wing settings. In the afternoon, Antonio concentrated on tyre testing for next month's Spanish Grand Prix. Nick also spent the morning working on set-ups before switching to tyre testing in the afternoon, when he completed a series of long runs. The German completed 95 laps, setting a best time of 1:14.932 minutes, while Mark completed 52 laps and Antonio 57, posting 1:16.051 and 1:15.134, respectively. Sam Michael (Technical Director, WilliamsF1): "An important day’s work in preparation for the start of the European season - we concentrated on tyre testing for the Barcelona Grand Prix as well as aero component, traction control and mechanical development tests. Antonio picked up testing duties from Mark at lunchtime today as a precaution to allow Mark more time out of the car to let the bruising from his rib to recover."
