10 March: Jerez Testing, Day 1 Franck Montagny,
R25-05, 104 laps Heikki Kovalainen, R24-08, 88 laps
The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team began two days of testing at Jerez,
Spain today.
The team completed limited running during the morning: the circuit was in poor condition owing to construction
work inside the circuit perimeter which left the track surface very dusty, while both drivers also had to acclimatise themselves to
the R24 (Kovalainen) and R25 (Montagny) respectively.
During the afternoon, both drivers’ programmes focused on tyre
evaluation, which was completed successfully.
Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk commented:
“We made a good
start to our test in Jerez. As soon as the circuit conditions had improved, our priority was to complete as much running as possible
concentrating on tyre evaluation. Both drivers completed their programmes, and gained positive results which we will pursue
tomorrow.”
