09 March: Testing Report - Jerez - Day 1 Location: Circuito de Jerez, Spain Team McLaren Mercedes began a three day test at the Jerez circuit in Spain today, with Alex Wurz behind the wheel of an MP4-19B, which the team is running as the MP4-20s have been sent directly to Malaysia after the Australian Grand Prix. Alex’s programme today was focusing on general Michelin tyre development with the Austrian completing short runs this morning. This afternoon the team completed one long run before an engine problem ended the day’s programme. The engine failure occurred after 89 laps when Alex had just started his second long run in last year’s MP4-19B with a 2004 Q engine. This engine had been run in a longevity test with almost 1,000 km completed. Alex Wurz “We had a productive session this morning, completing our programme of short runs, but unfortunately an engine failure ended our programme prematurely.” Jerez Test - Report and Times - 09 March Latest Formula 1 News from McLaren Mercedes: Vodafone McLaren Mercedes unveiled in Valencia (15/12/2007) More news from McLaren Mercedes F1
