Aug.2 (GMM) Turkey has vowed to fight for its place on the formula one calendar.
The Istanbul round was provisionally included in the original 2012 calendar, but an amended version circulated in the Hungaroring paddock showed Turkey as missing.Earlier, it was suggested F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone had foreshadowed the axe by doubling the race's sanctioning fee for next year. But Turkish automobile sports federation (TOSFED) chairman Mumtaz Tahincioglu on Tuesday said he has been in meetings about rescuing the event."We are seeking a way to keep F1 in Turkey and Mr Minister is ready to do everything for this goal," he is quoted by the Anadolu state news agency."We will invite Mr Ecclestone to Turkey. We want to conclude our negotiations," added Tahincioglu.
