Jan.31 (GMM) The 13 F1 teams have each received a nearly EUR60,000 bill to fund the FIA's latest technological improvement.
Following criticism of poor decision making by the stewards, the governing body intends to fit ultra-sophisticated GPS systems in all the cars this year. The data will flow to the race director, with positioning accurate to the tune of less than one metre. It means the stewards will be armed with better information in order to judge infractions including cutting chicanes, ignoring flags, illegal overtaking, impeding rivals and touching pit exit white lines.Germany's Auto Motor und Sport said the total cost of the new technology was EUR750,000.
