Jan.8 (GMM) Jerome d'Ambrosio has played down intensifying speculation that he is close to being named as Robert Kubica's teammate at Renault for 2010.
The 24-year-old is part of the Gravity Sport management stable, which until now has been run by the newly Genii Capital-controlled team's new boss Eric Boullier.Belgian d'Ambrosio drove in GP2 last year for DAMS, a French team formerly headed by Boullier.D'Ambrosio also has historical ties to Renault, including as a prominent member of the French marque's driver development programme, and stints in Formula Renault and the Renault World Series. But he told the Belgian sports newspaper La Derniere Heure: "F1 is not on the agenda."Everything that has been happening in recent weeks has been positive for me, but it is no guarantee of anything."My hope is to race in grands prix one day. But before that, I have to focus on my job in GP2, which is to win races."D'Ambrosio added that he hopes to have moved closer to the F1 grid by the end of 2010."If at the end of the year I have not had the opportunity to sit in an F1 car, it becomes difficult. But my goal is no longer a dream, even if I am not getting myself distracted," he said.
