Oct.30 (GMM) Kimi Raikkonen has confirmed he is in talks with McLaren about re-joining the British team.
"It wouldn't make sense to change to any other formula one team," said the Finn, who has agreed to leave Ferrari one year early to make way for Fernando Alonso. The 30-year-old, a winner of 18 grands prix and the 2007 world champion, slammed Toyota chief John Howett for declaring repeatedly on recent occasions that talks about the 2010 season were taking place."With Toyota there was nothing, although they said that we negotiated," Raikkonen told the Finnish newspaper Turun Sanomat. "We didn't speak with them; that was only what they said," he added.Elaborating on why he is not interested in joining the Cologne based team, he said: "It is not cool to drive bad cars."It is believed McLaren is hesitating over Raikkonen's pay demands, and the veteran of 156 grands prix confirms that the delay has nothing to do with a reluctance to team up with team favourite Lewis Hamilton."Hamilton does not have anything to do with my decision. It doesn't matter to me who drives the other car," he insisted.Raikkonen, who has admitted that rallying would be an alternative to F1, also played down reports he might just take a sabbatical in 2010."Next year I will definitely drive something," he said.
