Nov.15 (GMM) The Hinwil based Sauber team is "waiting patiently" to know if it will be able to keep racing in formula one in 2010.
"We are waiting patiently for our starting place," team founder Peter Sauber is quoted as saying by Switzerland's Blick. The 66-year-old is referring to the FIA's declaration last week that "urgent clarification" is being sought as to Toyota's "legal position" following the Japanese carmaker's decision to withdraw from F1."This will have a direct bearing on the admission of any future 13th entry," F1's governing body had said. Before Toyota's withdrawal, Sauber occupied only the 14th team place in F1, which according to the FIA in September meant it was poised to "fill any vacancy that arises" on a 2010 grid that will accommodate a maximum of 26 cars.It is understood that, in the wake of BMW's withdrawal, the team's takeover by the Qadbak consortium will only be formalised when Sauber is granted an official 2010 entry.
