Nov.1 (GMM) Romain Grosjean believes it would be "stupid" if his formula one career is ended after a mere 7 grands prix.
The French-Swiss 23-year-old was drafted in to replace the ousted Nelson Piquet at Renault, but according to widespread speculation is not tipped to be retained for 2010.Grosjean has struggled to keep up with his teammate Fernando Alonso in the uncompetitive R29, but he vowed in Abu Dhabi to fight "until the end" to fend off the advances of potential replacements including Timo Glock."I'm a fighter until the end. I am very motivated to stay," he is quoted as saying by the French press. "I have to wait for the decision of the team."It would be stupid to do only seven races with a car down in performance. If the story stops here, it would be a complete mess," added Grosjean.Acting Renault boss Bob Bell admits the team is looking at its options."Romain still remains a possibility but we need to look at all the possible options. It would be sad to lose him from the Renault programme and obviously he's French, so that carries some consequences for the team."But we do need to put the best drivers in the car that we can afford," added Bell.
