Nov.18 (GMM) The operator of the Donington Park circuit has been placed into administration, but a grand prix at the British circuit in 2011 is not being ruled out.
The track confirmed reports on Wednesday that leaseholder Donington Ventures Leisure Limited, having failed in its bid to organise a formula one race for next year, will now be managed by administrators. But Nigel Price, of the Birmingham office of corporate recovery specialists Begbies Traynor, said: This need not be the end of formula one racing at Donington."Work to refurbish the Leicestershire circuit, which is currently unusable, had already begun before the grand prix deal collapsed."We are certainly hopeful that a 2011 grand prix could take place at the site."We are looking for a purchaser for the business and the potential opportunity to bring formula one to this part of the Midlands by funding the work that needs to be carried out to the circuit," Price added.
