May 22 (GMM) Bernie Ecclestone on Friday revealed he has commenced negotiations with the potential promoters of an Argentinean grand prix.
The South American country, with a race in the capital Buenos Aires, was last on the calendar in 1998."I'm talking to people in Argentina. We've just started talking," the F1 chief executive said in Monaco.An Argentine government representative also confirmed the news."Yes, we are trying to bring formula one," the official said in the newspaper Critica, which reported that the venue would most likely be a street circuit.Humorously, Ecclestone was also asked if he was "optimistic" after the FOTA meeting on Friday, answering that he was "optimistic that there will be more meetings".
