Jul.12 (GMM) F1's political saga rolls on at the Nurburgring, with rumours Bernie Ecclestone is on the cusp of being ousted as chief executive.
The British billionaire was reportedly the subject of a meeting held by CVC, the owner of the sport's commercial rights, last week.According to the Sunday Telegraph, they are considering dumping Ecclestone, so rattled are they by the breakaway threat and the 78-year-old's controversial Hitler interview.The newspaper pointed out that CVC bigwigs Sir Martin Sorrell and Peter Brabeck are both Jewish, and that they are also desperate to see the back of FIA president Max Mosley.The Times newspaper believes Flavio Briatore, currently Renault boss and FOTA vice-chairman in charge of commercial matters, is favourite to succeed Ecclestone.
