Jul.17 (GMM) A "shocked" Sebastien Bourdais is looking into suing Toro Rosso after being dumped from the Italian-based formula one team's race lineup.
"I consider that, in doing so, (the team) has breached its contractual duties towards me; also I believe that nothing in my behaviour would legitimate a decision of the team to terminate the contract," the 30-year-old Frenchman said in a media statement issued late on Thursday.
Earlier, the Red Bull-owned team said its partnership with the multiple Champ Car champion "has not met our expectations", and will name his immediate replacement before next weekend's Hungarian grand prix.
Bourdais said: "I have instructed my lawyers to review the situation including the possibility of issuing legal proceedings."
He said the decision is "even more frustrating" given that his replacement will be at the wheel of a major upgrade for the STR4 in Hungary and beyond.
"I am convinced that if I was given the chance to race with such new package I would have had the opportunity to achieve satisfactory results," added Bourdais.
He also said he remains "strongly committed" to his F1 career that began last season, having "renounced my career in (the) United States".
