Aug.26 (GMM) At a meeting on Tuesday, the path was cleared so that Silverstone's owner the British Racing Drivers' Club can consider "offers" that could secure the future of the formula one race.
According to London's Evening Standard newspaper, the BRDC members voted overwhelmingly to open the door to considerations such as selling partial naming rights to the Northamptonshire track."The primary function of Silverstone will always be racing, hopefully, with a formula one grand prix," BRDC president Damon Hill said after the meeting. The meeting follows Silverstone's attempts to retain the grand prix as Bernie Ecclestone issued a September deadline for contracted 2010 host Donington to get its funding in place.
