Aug.28 (GMM) While BMW is still looking for a buyer for its Hinwil based formula one team, there is also a 'plan B' in the event that it has to close.
In the wake of the German manufacturer's announced withdrawal, the Swiss outfit has applied to the FIA for the thirteenth team spot for 2010 but is not guaranteed the entry."An alternative is that Hinwil is used as a remote location for BMW, for example for other motor sport projects or for developments in aerodynamics and lightweight construction," team boss Mario Theissen told Germany's Auto Motor und Sport. It is believed the FIA will name the thirteenth team in two weeks, and that Prodrive and Epsilon Euskadi are also in the running.Theissen says BMW-Sauber has a chance of securing the entry."There are a lot of interested parties, ranging from simple enquiries to professional projects," he revealed.
