Aug.21 (GMM) After a decade away from the formula one grid, Luca Badoer had an expensive return to competitive action on Friday.
Although not higher than 18th on the official time sheets, the 38-year-old Italian was consistently quick in the Valencia pit lane as he offended the 60kph speed limit not once but three times.Three separate stewards reports show that Badoer was 2.7, 6 and 5.9kph above the limit at 2.11, 2.21 and 2.44pm respectively. The first two offenses cost injured Felipe Massa's race replacement 2400 euros, but the final "third offense" drew the ire of the stewards, who imposed an additional 3000 euro penalty.Badoer admitted in Spain on Thursday that, prior to Massa's crash, he was talking with the Maranello based team about a new contract for 2010."After Hungary everything is ... I don't know, I honestly don't know what will happen next year. We will see," he said. His comments were shortly followed by paddock rumours that Giancarlo Fisichella might replace him as the famous team's primary test driver next year.
