Apr.16 (GMM) Red Bull designer Adrian Newey cancelled his flight to Shanghai following the FIA's confirmation that 'double diffusers' are fully legal, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph said Red Bull's chief technical officer has instead opted to remain at the Milton-Keynes factory to push ahead with a version of his own Brawn, Williams and Toyota-style rear aerodynamic solution.It is believed that the energy drink-owned team could be ready to debut the new diffuser in Monaco late next month, while Renault and BMW-Sauber might be ready to race similar solutions imminently.Ferrari is said to be targeting the first European race of the season, the Spanish grand prix on May 10, for the debut of a double-diffuser.The Daily Mail newspaper, meanwhile, said McLaren may be in a similar position to Renault and BMW in readying a rapid development to its current diffuser layout.But Mercedes' Norbert Haug told Bild newspaper: "For Shanghai we have prepared only minor aerodynamic improvements. Only in Barcelona will a larger step take place."
