Apr.25 (GMM) Yet another threat to the running of the 2010 British grand prix at Donington has emerged.
Following this week's reports of legal action taken by the Leicestershire venue's owners, it emerged on Saturday that council approval for the necessary track upgrades is now in jeopardy.North West Leicestershire District Council gave track leaseholder and F1 race promoter Simon Gillett approval for the works, but is now threatening to revoke the approval due to a disagreement. The approval had been subject to Gillett agreeing to write up a transport management plan before every major event -- and he is yet to sign the documents. The situation means that Gillett is now open to more legal action, with the council able to take him to court to order that the construction work be halted and reversed.A deadline of May 5 has been imposed."(The council) has continued to work with Donington Park to meet the deadlines and terms of the permission. We can't keep extending the deadline for signing the agreement," said councillor Richard Blunt.Simon Gillett did not comment.
