Mar.29 (GMM) Sam Michael on Sunday left the matter of possible technical infringements in the hands of F1's governing body.
In the dead of Saturday night, and in the midst of a stewards' investigation, Williams dropped its protest against the Red Bull and Ferrari teams. It is believed the protest - a rare action for the British team - related to Williams' concerns about the sidepod aerodynamics of the respective cars, and follows the case three teams are pressing against the so-nicknamed 'diffuser 3' gang. The Grove based team said in a statement that it withdrew its protests "in the interests of the sport", which is clearly what they hope Ferrari, Red Bull and Renault will now do despite sending the diffuser case to the Court of Appeal.Technical director Michael indicated he trusts the FIA to handle its concerns about the Red Bull and Ferrari cars."We will leave it now for the FIA and the TWG (technical working group) to decide what to do. The FIA will deal with it," the Australian is quoted as saying by the AP news agency.
