18 January: Jerez Test - Day 2

Location: Circuito de Jerez, Spain
Drivers: Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett
Weather:
Cold in the morning, sunny in the afternoon
Air temperature: high of 16.4 degrees Celsius
Track temperature: high of 23.2 degrees
Laps run: 191
Kilometres covered:
Pedro de la Rosa approx. 440km Gary Paffett approx. 400km
Best lap time of the day: Jenson Button, Honda Racing, 1m18.396
Duration of test: Two days (17th – 18th January)

Team McLaren Mercedes completed its two day session at the Circuito de Jerez this afternoon, with Pedro de la Rosa taking fourth position on the timesheets and team-mate Gary Paffett lying in fifth

Driving two MP4-20s, Pedro set a time of 1m19.232, with Gary putting in a 1m19.296, as the two Team McLaren Mercedes test drivers concentrated on Michelin development work.

As with yesterday, the cold weather conditions at the Spanish circuit saw a delay in the start of running, which got underway properly at around 10am. Gary ventured out on track slightly earlier, and as a result of the cold conditions had a small off, but the car was undamaged.

Team McLaren Mercedes will resume its pre-season test programme next Monday, 23rd January, at the Circuit de Catalunya with Pedro and Gary continuing driving duties.

PEDRO DE LA ROSA
"Over the past two days in Jerez, we have again completed some positive work with Michelin on tyres, alongside set-up and some weight distribution programmes. There was cold weather both mornings, which delayed the running slightly, but we were still able to complete some good mileage."

GARY PAFFETT
"We had another productive session this week in Jerez. I am continuing to settle in well with the team and am looking forward to carrying on the programme next week in Barcelona."
