01 September: SAKON YAMAMOTO TO DRIVE ON FRIDAY AT THE JAPANESE GP Jordan Grand Prix is pleased to announce that current Formula Nippon and Super GT Series driver, Sakon Yamamoto, will be driving as the team’s Friday driver at the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka on 7 – 9 October 2005. Yamamoto will have a seat fitting at the Jordan factory next week in preparation for a test drive, which will take place at Silverstone from 13 to 15 September. Colin Kolles, Managing Director of Jordan Grand Prix, stated: "Sakon Yamamoto is a very talented driver in Japan at the moment and I’m delighted that we are able to offer him his first F1 test and the Friday drive at his home Grand Prix. He’s come up through the junior categories quickly and with good results so I’m optimistic that he will be very significant in the future of Japanese motorsport. I am sure he will do a great job to help the team gathering data to assist with our preparation for the Japanese Grand Prix.” Sakon Yamamoto said: “It is with great pleasure that I have a chance to drive a Jordan Grand Prix Formula One racing car as a third driver at Suzuka. I have started my racing driver carrier aiming at Formula One and I greatly thank Jordan Grand Prix and all the people who have supported me to get this opportunity. I will work hard to achieve my goal of a regular seat in Formula One through this opportunity.” Latest Formula 1 News from Jordan: Midland sign Christijan Albers (01/11/2005)2005 Formula 1 Season Review (27/10/2005) Midland sign Nicky Pastorelli (24/10/2005) Belgium - Race (11/09/2005) Belgium - Qualifying (10/09/2005) Belgium - Friday Practice (09/09/2005) Italy - Race (04/09/2005) Italy - Qualifying (03/09/2005) More news from Jordan F1
