9 July: British Grand Prix - Qualifying Report - Toyota

Panasonic Toyota Racing's drivers Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher will start tomorrow's British Grand Prix in the top eight after both put in strong laps in today's qualifying session. Jarno put in his usual fine qualifying lap to take the 5th fastest time while Ralf also did a good job to finish 9th fastest. Both drivers will move up a spot on the grid thanks to Raikkonen's penalty. Toyota will now head into Sunday's race aiming to make the most of today's performances and to get both cars into the points for the second race in a row. The team is confident that tomorrow will be a better race than Magny-Cours so there is a good chance of boosting its total of 53 points, currently enough for 4th place in the constructors' championship.

I AM VERY ABBEY
Jarno Trulli produced yet another strong Saturday to qualify on the second row for tomorrow's British Grand Prix. The Italian thus keeps up his impressive 2005 record, a year in which he has only once qualified outside the top five.

Jarno Trulli (Car 16, Chassis TF105/02) GRID: 4th
First Practice Classification: 14th Lap Time: 1m23.458s (+2.483s) Laps: 4
Second Practice Classification: 3rd Lap Time: 1m20.449s (+0.372s) Laps: 13
Qualifying Classification: 5th Lap Time: 1m20.459s (+0.554s) Laps: 3

"I'm happy because that was a good lap from me. I suffered a bit with understeer, which maybe cost me a few tenths. But the balance was still good and I could push hard. It's a shame we're not even further forward, but the second row is a good space to start and it means we can look forward to a positive day tomorrow. We've had a good weekend all round and we did some effective work on our race set-up this morning. So I'm confident that we should have fewer problems tomorrow in the race than we saw last week at Magny-Cours and we can bring home a better result."

THE BRAKE FAST CLUB
Ralf Schumacher put in a strong performance to take a place on the fourth row in today's qualifying session at Silverstone. Schumacher reported less grip than the morning, but he enjoyed a clean lap on the way to 8th place.

Ralf Schumacher (Car 17, Chassis TF105/03) GRID: 8th
First Practice Classification: 10th Lap Time: 1m22.775s (+1.800s) Laps: 7
Second Practice Classification: 4th Lap Time: 1m20.054s (+0.447s) Laps: 12
Qualifying Classification: 9th Lap Time: 1m21.191s (+1.286s) Laps: 3

"That was a pretty good lap from me. It was a clean lap, even if it was nothing special. I have to think we're in good shape for tomorrow because we have had a positive weekend so far. Given the strategy we have l think we're in a reasonable position to come home with another strong points finish tomorrow. Overall we did a very good job during the practice sessions this morning so I'm pretty sure that tomorrow it will all look even better."

BOLD HANGAR RACING AHEAD
Panasonic Toyota Racing will work hard to make the most of its top 8 qualifying slots during tomorrow's British Grand Prix. The starting positions mean the team is well set for another double points finish.

Mike Gascoyne - Technical Director Chassis "We've had two pretty good days so far here at Silverstone. In fact, qualifying was probably our worst session of the weekend. But that was because our qualifying was very much aimed at a good strategy for tomorrow's race, and we're confident that will pay off. Jarno put in his normal excellent job on Saturday, putting in a similar time to the one he managed this morning. The only problem we had was that Ralf struggled to find the grip he had in the morning. But we're in a good position to have both cars scoring points and hopefully racing for the podium. It's been a very positive two days and now we have to look to finish it off tomorrow.
