2 June: Silverstone Test Notes - Day 2 Good conditions on the second day of testing Whereas rain had hampered the BMW WilliamsF1 Team’s progress during yesterday’s testing session, the weather was fine today at the ‘Silverstone Circuit’. 19°C was measured at the 5.141 kilometre track. Nick Heidfeld and Mark Webber were in action and continued the Anglo-German partnership’s preparations for the forthcoming Grands Prix. Nick covered a total of 91 laps of the Northamptonshire track and achieved a personal best time of 1:20.949 minutes. His team-mate clocked a 1:21.099 and completed 75 laps. Both drivers were evaluating tyres with Michelin, the team’s tyre partner, exercising simulated race starts and working on the improvement of the traction control system. Fastest driver of the day was Kimi Räikkönen (McLaren Mercedes, 1:18.140). On Friday, the BMW WilliamsF1 Team will conclude testing at Silverstone. Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): "Both drivers did tyre tests for the race at Silverstone in July, testing the prime and option compounds. They also evaluated some aero parts for Montreal as well as testing brake and suspension set-up. We’re looking forward to some more good weather tomorrow for our last day here.“ Latest Formula 1 News from Williams BMW: Williams confirm Wurz and Rosberg for 2007 (02/08/2006) More news from BMW Williams F1
