MONZA TEST - 1-3 June 2005
Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Wednesday, 1 June 2005
Weather: friendly Temperatures: Air 28°, Track 42°
Number of laps: Jacques Villeneuve 95 laps, 550.335 kilometres
Track length: 5.793 kilometres

1 June: Team SAUBER PETRONAS started its three-day test at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza today. Jacques Villeneuve covered 95 laps in chassis C24-05 to set a best time of 1:22.796s. Tomorrow Felipe Massa will take over the testing until Friday.

Jacky Eeckelaert (Chief Race Engineer): "The focus of the test this week will be the preparation for the next two races in North America. In Montreal and Indianapolis it will be the first time this season that we run with aerodynamic packages for medium downforce levels. Therefore, we will evaluate several new parts, mainly front and rear wings. Some of them we tested to a certain extent already in Le Castellet three weeks ago and need to verify them here in Monza, but we will also have completely new parts on the car. In the morning Jacques did a comparison of the new package and later in the afternoon he worked with Michelin on the tyre selection for Montreal.
"Tomorrow Felipe will continue testing the new aerodynamic parts and will then concentrate on a tyre programme for Indianapolis."
