10 May: Vallelunga Test Summary BMW WilliamsF1 Team begins Vallelunga testing The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today completed the first of day of a three day test this week at Vallelunga, Italy. Antonio Pizzonia and reigning European Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx were on duty for the team. Conditions were good at 17 to 20°C, except for a brief rain shower around lunchtime. As the characteristics of the Vallelunga circuit are very similar to the track at Monaco, with several tight corners, both drivers completed preparation work for the upcoming Grand Prix at the Cote d'Azur, with set-up work and tyre construction testing on today's agenda. Antonio completed 142 laps with a personal best of 57.664 seconds, while Andy mastered the track in 58.624 seconds during the quickest of his 132 laps. Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): “This is the first time the team has tested at Vallelunga and it’s always interesting to come somewhere new. The circuit in Italy bears the closest resemblance to Monaco, the next race on the calendar. Antonio worked on setups and tyre casing tests while Andy worked on start settings and cooling tests. The pair completed nearly 900 kilometers. On his first day in the FW27, Andy did a good job for the team, especially considering he won the 24-hours race at the weekend and will be at Snetterton for the next two days testing.” Tomorrow, Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia will be in action for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team.
