Weather: Bright and sunny
Track temperature: approx. 40 degrees Celsius
Air temperature: 30 degrees Celsius
Laps run: 193
Kilometres covered: Pedro de la Rosa approx. 615km

Best lap time of the day: Kimi Raikkonen, 1m16.917s
Duration of test: Two days

Kimi Raikkonen and Pedro de la Rosa began a two day testing session at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain today with both drivers behind the wheel of MP4-20s.

The programme for both drivers today concentrated on Michelin tyre testing, engine durability, set-up development and developments on the aero package for the Spanish Grand Prix and forthcoming races. Both drivers will continue working on these areas tomorrow.

Kimi's programme was delayed after an engine ancillary drive broke which resulted in an engine change. He then went back out and encountered a minor software problem which the test team fixed. Kimi was however the fastest driver of the eight cars present at the circuit today, completing 54 laps with a time of 1m16.917s.

Pedro set the third fastest time of the day, completing 139 laps with a best time of 1m17.737s. He completed approximately 615km.

Kimi Raikkonen:
"Today my programme was interrupted by an engine ancillary problem, however the test team worked quickly to rectify this, to make sure the disruption to the programme was minimal. I was however pleased to have set the overall fastest lap time of the day."

Pedro de la Rosa:
"Today I completed a significant number of km, approximately 615 in total and the car was working very well. Our programme at Jerez runs over two days, so I am looking forward to continuing the test tomorrow."
