24 March: Barcelona Test Day 1 Two-day test programme kicks off at Barcelona After the drivers had gone out on a wet track in the morning, temperatures reached 20°C over the course of the day. Nick Heidfeld and Antonio Pizzonia were on duty as the BMW WilliamsF1 Team took to the 'Circuit de Catalunya' for the first time since 17th February. Both drivers spent the morning concentrating on set-ups, while in the afternoon Nick focussed on tyre compound evaluations, carrying out a number of long runs, and Antonio did a number of simulated starts. Nick completed 121 laps, setting a best time of 1:16.677 minutes, while his Brazilian team-mate completed 109 laps on his way to posting a personal best of 1:17.177. Both drivers continue here tomorrow. Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): "We’re back in Barcelona for just two days this week, testing parts in preparation for next weekend’s race in Bahrain. With Nick and Antonio on duty for the team, we concentrated on the usual set-up work this morning. While Nick carried out a series of long runs this afternoon, Antonio put the FW27 through its paces practising starts. Both drivers will return to the track tomorrow."
