The West McLaren Mercedes team continued their test programme at Spain’s Jerez circuit today. Austrian Alex Wurz was piloting an MP4-19B and completed 150 laps, which was the most running of the ten drivers in attendance, with a fastest time of 1m16.308. Alex completed a total of 664 km today, the longest distance the team has covered in one day with one car so far this year.

The programme focused on tyre evaluation for the Bahrain Grand Prix, which takes place over the first weekend of April, looking at three sets of prime and option Michelin tyres for the race. The day’s session ran well with no technical issues.

Alex Wurz
“Today’s running in Jerez was positive. Our focus was working through an evaluation programme on the Michelin options for the race in Bahrain, which Pedro will continue tomorrow.”
