The penultimate test before the start of the 2005
Formula One World Championship season got underway at the Circuit de Catalunya today. Conditions were ideal, though a little cool,
with temperatures reaching 10 degrees C.
Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia were both on duty for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team, the
Williams BMW FW27 making its Barcelona debut. Both drivers spent the day working on set-ups. The Australian completed 97 laps on his
way to posting a best time of 1:16.514, while his Brazilian teammate completed 46 laps, with a best time of 1:17.551.
Tim
Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): “Mark and Antonio were testing for the team today, our first day in Barcelona with the
FW27. Since this was Antonio’s first outing in the new car, he spent the day getting used to his surroundings and concentrating on
set-up work. Mark, meanwhile, also focussed on set-up options as well as completing some tyre testing. Mark will be joined by Nick
tomorrow.”
