11 February: Jerez Test Summary - Successful first tests of new RB1
At the official
Formula 1 test runs in the Spanish town of Jerez de la Frontera (February 8 to February 11), Red Bull cut a very promising figure
with its new car.
For the first time, two RB1 were used in the new livery – with tests that were without any technical
problems on all four days.
All test programs ran as planned – including long runs, fine tuning in the setup and targeted
tyre tests.
Attention centred on the reliability of the RB1 and the stableness of the engines. All three pilots completed
several Grand Prix distances and reported a very neutral RB1 which showed very calm response in the rear part. The times made in the
laps were very encouraging on all days, even if only comparable to a limited extent.
The tests will continue in the coming
week in Barcelona. After that, the second driver beside Coulthard for the season’s kick-off in Melbourne will be selected.
