25 January: Valencia Test - Day 1 With the launch of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team's 2005 contender just under a week away, Antonio Pizzonia and Nick Heidfeld began a three-day test at Valencia. Despite bright sunshine and blue skies, conditions at the 'Circuit de la Comunitat Valencia Ricardo Tormo' were extremely chilly today, with the air temperature never getting above 7°C. Antonio Pizzonia and Nick Heidfeld, both under consideration for the second BMW WilliamsF1 Team race seat, spent the day concentrating on set-ups. Antonio completed 57 laps, setting a personal best time of 1:11.352 minutes, while his German team-mate completed 60 laps on his way to posting a best time of 1:12.293 minutes. Both drivers continue at Valencia tomorrow. Tim Newton (Test Team Manager, WilliamsF1): "We haven’t tested at Valencia for just under a year so we spent much of the session re-discovering the circuit and working on set-ups. Progress was also hampered by inclement weather conditions, with strong winds making it hard for us to achieve any consistent running. Hopefully we’ll have better conditions tomorrow when Antonio and Nick will resume testing.” Lap times
